Egizi, Gianforte Named A-10 Players of the Week

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – For the second-straight week, the University of Richmond women's lacrosse program boasts two Atlantic 10 Players of the Week.

Attacker Kim Egizi earned A-10 Player of the Week honors for the second week in a row and fourth time in her career, while goalie Megan Gianforte earn A-10 Defensive Player of the Week accolades for the fifth time in her career.

Egizi matched her career-high of eight points that she set last week in the Spiders' 13-6 win over American on Saturday. The senior scored a career high-tying seven goals, going 2-for-2 from free position, and assisted on one other goal to lead the Spiders. Egizi also won seven draw controls to help the Spiders out draw American, 15-5, while collecting four ground balls and causing two turnovers.

Gianforte logged nine saves and allowed just two goals on 16 shots faced at American. The sophomore stopped all four free-position shots that she faced in 48:35 minutes played and led a Spider defense that shut out the Eagles in the opening half. Gianforte finished the day with a .818 save percentage, four ground balls and one caused turnover.

The Spiders return to action Wednesday, February 21, when they travel to take on No. 16 Virginia. Game time in Charlottesville is set for 5 p.m.
