Ryan Lanchbury Named SoCon Offensive Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference announced its weekly awards on Tuesday afternoon and for the first time in his young career, Ryan Lanchbury has been named the Offensive Player of the Week.

Lanchbury notched his third hat trick of the season in the Spiders' 14-12 win over Jacksonville in a battle of first-place SoCon squads. The freshman from Burlington, Ontario, Canada, scored three goals and added two assists for his second game this season of five points or more.

Lanchbury scored Richmond's first goal of the day to even the score at 1 in the first quarter and notched consecutive tallies in the fourth quarter, including the eventual game-winner, to put the Spiders ahead by two after the Dolphins had tied the score at 11. He also assisted on goals in the second and third quarters.

This is the first Offensive Player of the Week this season for the Spiders. Goalkeeper Blake Goodman has been named the Defensive Player of the Week on two separate occasions.

The Spiders return to the field this weekend at Mercer and will close out the 2018 regular season at home the following Saturday, April, 28.
