Spiders Down Bonnies, Clinch A-10 Regular Season Title

OLEAN, N.Y. – Junior Marissa Brown scored five goals and added an assist to lead the University of Richmond women's lacrosse team to a dominant 13-5 victory at St. Bonaventure to close the regular season.

With the win, the Spiders clinch at least a share of the 2018 A-10 Regular Season Title, doing so for the first time since 2010.

The Bonnies took and early 1-0 lead, but Brown logged an early hat trick to put the Spiders on top, 3-1. Julia Schmuckler extended the lead, before the Spiders scored four more times on goals from Aly Fries, Brown, Caroline Queally and Katie Trainer.

St. Bonaventure scored once more to stop the Spiders run, but Schmuckler tallied her second goal of the day to send the Spiders into the break with a 9-2 lead.

Madison Ostrick opened the second half scoring, but the Bonnies rebounded to score twice to cut into the Spider advantage.

Trainer, Ostrick and Brown each scored to extend the lead to 13-4 before the Bonnies tallied one more to finish the game.

The Spiders will be the No. 2 seed at the 2018 Atlantic 10 Tournament, hosted at Robins Stadium. The team will receive a first round bye, and will play in the semifinal round versus the winner of Thursday's matchup between #3 Saint Joseph's and #6 George Mason. The semifinal matchup is set for Friday at 4 p.m.
