
Reedy, Diaz Post Strong Showings to Lead Spiders to Fifth-Place Finish in Harvard Invitational

SARASOTA, Fla. – The University of Richmond women's golf team competed in its final regular-season event on Saturday and Sunday at the Harvard Invitational and showed well, finishing fifth overall in the field of 11 by firing a team score of 922 (+58) bolstered by the fourth lowest score in the field on Sunday.
The Spiders started slow but improved with each round to climb up the leaderboard. Senior Elsa Diaz set the tone early with an opening round 73 (+1) and closed with back-to-back rounds of 77 (+5) to finish with an overall score of 227 (+11) and in a tie for 11th overall.
It was the freshman, Lizzie Reedy, though that was tops among her teammates with a 226 (+10). She shook off an opening round 83 (+11) and closed with a 72 (E) followed by a career-best 71 (-1) on Sunday to finish alone in 10th overall.
Annie Collom put forth her third-best overall score of the season in the form of a 232 (+16). She posted rounds of 79-81-72 to close in a tie for 19th overall and earn her fifth top-20 finish of the season.
Fellow Patriot League foe Boston University was also involved in this event. Richmond beat was 11 strokes better than Boston this weekend in the final tune-up before the Patriot League Championship at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Club in Annapolis, Md. in two weeks. Richmond will be looking for its third-straight league title.
