UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – The accolades continue to roll in for University of Richmond women's lacrosse standouts Kim Egizi and Julie Ball.
Â
The duo, who earned A-10 Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year honors, respectively, were named to the IWLCA Division I All-South Region Second Team on Friday afternoon prior to the Spiders' NCAA First Round game against Northwestern.
Â
Egizi and Ball are two of the 128 student-athletes in Division I honored by the IWLCA with a selection to one of the All-Region teams for 2018, and are now eligible to be named to a national IWLCA All-American team.
A senior attacker, Egizi has had a standout career for the Spiders, earning All-Conference honors all four years and First Team honors twice. Egizi, who holds the program record for single-season and single-game points, earned A-10 Tournament MVP honors after scoring the overtime game-winner to send the Spiders to their first NCAA tournament since 2007. She ranks in the top three on the team in points, goals, assists, draw controls, ground balls and caused turnovers.
Â
Ball has had a breakout season for the Spiders, earning First Team All-Conference accolades for her defensive play. The junior ranks fifth in the nation in caused turnovers per game, and her 50 caused turnovers this season are a single-season program record. Ball ranks third on the team in both ground balls and draw control wins.
Â
Following the 2018 season, the IWLCA will celebrate the 2018 All-Americans during Divisional All-American Announcement Shows, which will be launched online in mid-June.Â
