Football Returns Home Saturday Night Hosting Yale In Non-Conference play

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond football team returns home to Robins Stadium winners of two-straight and the Spiders step out of Colonial Athletic Association play hosting Ivy League member Yale. Game time is set for 6 p.m. and marks the final non-conference game of the regular season.
Saturday's game will be broadcast on NBC Sports Washington Plus and online via at www.FloFootball.com with Bob Black and Chris Anderson on the call. The game will be carried on FloFootball.com for a fee and is included in the season package for the Colonial Athletic Association. The game will be audio broadcast on ESPN Richmond and TuneIn with Robert Fish and Matt Smith on the call. Richmond enters Saturday's game after posting back-to-back wins over UAlbany and then nationally ranked Maine to improve to 3-3 overall on the year and 2-1 in CAA play. The Spiders have used the formula of strong defense and ball protection on offense to post their two-straight victories. Richmond's defense has allowed just 18.5 points per game in the two wins and has accounted for 11 sacks in the past two games. Senior defensive lineman Maurice Jackson (Richmond, Va.) has been the catalyst with five sacks in the two wins, three against UAlbany and two against Maine.
The Spiders have started taken care of the ball the past two games having gone without committing a turnover and winning the turnover battle. The Spiders are 6-0 all-time under head coach Russ Huesman when they do not commit a turnover and are 8-1 when they win the turnover battle in the past three seasons. In fact, over the past five years, the Spiders are 12-2 when committing zero turnovers and are 22-3 when winning the turnover battle.
Redshirt junior quarterback Joe Mancuso (Damascus, Md.) started his third game of the season against Maine at quarterback and his first since Boston College (September 7). Mancuso scored all three of the Spiders' touchdowns, two on the ground and one through the air. He finished 14-for-24 passing for 226 yards and a touchdown and led the attack on the ground, toting the ball 12 times for 28 yards and hitting pay dirt twice.
Saturday's victory over No. 18 Maine marked the Spiders first win over a nationally ranked opponent this season. The win is also the first over a ranked foe since November 4, 2017 when Richmond shutout then 20th-ranked Villanova 22-0 on the road. Since 1995, the Spiders are 56-67 all-time when facing a nationally ranked opponent, including a 1-1 record this year with the win over No. 18 Maine and a loss to No. 25 Elon. Richmond's schedule moving forward has three more teams currently ranked in No. 24 Delaware, No. 7 Villanova and No. 2 James Madison.

The Bulldogs opened the year with wins over Holy Cross, Cornell and Fordham but dropped their last game on the road at Dartmouth. Yale defeated Fordham 48-24 at home a week after the Spiders suffered a 23-16 loss to the Rams in the Bronx.
Quarterback Kurt Rawlings has connected on 63-of-101 this season for 857 yards and four touchdowns to go along with four interceptions. Four different receivers have caught 10 or more passes with Reed Klubnik leading the way with 15 receptions for 289 yards. On the ground, Zane Dudek leads the team with 237 yards on 56 carries while Rawlings has a team-high three rushing touchdowns.
