Spiders 17th After First Round at Cardinal Cup
10/18/2019 | Women's Golf
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Facing an elite field on a difficult course, the Spiders were looking for some breaks in the first round of Louisville's Cardinal Cup on Friday.Â
They didn't get them.Â
With junior Lizzie Reedy forced to withdraw with an injury, a short-handed Richmond lineup registered a team score of 323 (+35) in round one and stands at 17th on the leaderboard with 36 holes remaining in the event.Â
With Reedy out, scores from each of the four remaining Spiders -- sophomore Emily Ward, sophomore Naomi Mitchell, freshman Muskan Uppal, and freshman Vicky Zhu -- were counted in Richmond's team score. Zhu's round of 75 (+3) led all Spiders and was tied for 25th in the field of 95.Â
Richmond will begin the second round at 10:40 AM on Saturday. The third and final round is scheduled for Sunday morning.
