Spiders Rebound in Second Round at Cardinal Cup
10/19/2019 | Women's Golf
LOUISVILLE, Ky.. -- Playing without the sole upperclassman in their lineup, the Richmond Spiders women's golf team combined for a team score of 312 (+24) in the second round of the Cardinal Cup at the University of Louisville Golf Club on Saturday, an 11-shot improvement over their round one showing.Â
One day after junior Lizzie Reedy was forced to withdraw with an injury, Richmond was led by freshman Muskan Uppal, who carded a two-over 74 to move up 13 spots on the individual leaderboard. Sophomore Naomi Mitchell recorded a second straight 78 (+6), one shot better than freshman Vicky Zhu, who is tied for 56th on the individual leaderboard at 154 (+10) through 36 holes. Sophomore Emily Ward shot 81 (+9) on Saturday. Due to Reedy's withdrawal, Richmond was forced to count all four individual scores in its team total as opposed to discarding its highest individual round.Â
The Spiders are 17th on the team leaderboard with Sunday's final round remaining. Play will begin with a shotgun start at 9:00 AM.Â
