Football Travels To No. 19 Delaware Saturday Afternoon

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond football team hits the road this weekend travelling to Newark, Del., for a meeting against No. 19 Delaware. Game time is set for 1 p.m. in a battle of Colonial Athletic Association teams at Delaware Stadium.
Saturday's game will be broadcast on www.FloFootball.com as part of the CAA's broadcast package. The FloFootball streaming is a paid service with special pricing for CAA fans of $12.50 per month or $95.88 per year ($7.99 per month). Fans can sign up for the service by clicking HERE.

Richmond is coming off a tough 28-27 non-conference loss last weekend at home to Yale. The Spiders held a 27-7 lead in the game only to see Yale rally for the final 21 points, including 14 in the final 1:22 of the contest. Redshirt junior quarterback Joe Mancuso (Blairsville, Ga.) accounted for 364 yards of total offense and three touchdowns in the loss. Mancuso ran for a career-high 117 yards on 13 carries, marking the first 100-yard rusher of the season for the Spiders. He connected on 15-of-31 for 227 yards and three touchdowns through the air.
On the season, Mancuso has completed 65-of-107 for 942 yards and seven touchdowns while notching four interceptions. He leads the ground attack with 316 yards rushing on 55 carries and four rushing scores. Graduate transfer wide receiver Keyston Fuller (Griffin, Ga.) leads the team with 620 yards receiving on 30 receptions, scoring a team-high five touchdowns. Graduate transfer wide receiver Charlie Fessler (Erie, Pa.) leads the team with 38 receptions for 472 yards and a pair of scores.
Defensively, junior linebacker Tyler Dressler (Covington, Va.) leads the team and the CAA with 71 tackles on the year, averaging over 10 per game. Dressler has accounted for 35 tackles over the past two games. Freshman linebacker Tristan Wheeler (Bethlehem, Pa.) is second on the team with 58 tackles, which leads the CAA among all freshmen. Senior defensive lineman Maurice Jackson (Levittown, Pa.) leads the team and ranks second in the CAA with 7.0 sacks while adding 11.5 tackles for loss.
Saturday's game marks the 34th meeting between the Spiders the Blue Hens. The game marks the fourth-straight season Richmond and Delaware have met and the last before the teams come off each other's schedule due to the rotating CAA slate. The Spiders are 11-22 all-time against Delaware, including a 4-13 mark on the road. The Spiders have dropped the last two meetings overall but have gone 6-4 in the last 10 meetings.
Last year, Richmond dropped a 43-28 contest to the Blue Hens at Robins Stadium. The Spiders rallied for 18 unanswered points in the second half but saw its rally fall short. Mancuso made his first career start a memorable one, setting a Richmond record for total offense in a game with 560 yards. Mancuso threw for 489 yards on 27-of-37 passing with three touchdowns. He also rank for 71 yards on 15 carries with one touchdown. His 560 yards of total offense broke the school-record set by Michael Strauss on Nov. 16, 2013 also against Delaware. Mancuso also threw five interceptions in the loss. Delaware quarterback Pat Kehoe threw for 291 yards going 11-of-20 with a pair of touchdowns.
The Spiders' last visit to Newark came in 2017 seeing Delaware record a 42-35 overtime win. Former Spider quarterback Kyle Lauletta accounted for five touchdowns - four passing and one rushing - in the loss.
Delaware enters Saturday's game with a 4-3 overall record and a 2-1 mark in CAA play. The Blue Hens are coming off a 16-10 record over previously ranked New Hampshire last weekend at home. Delaware is 3-1 at home this season with its lone loss coming at the hands of No. 1 North Dakota State by a 47-22 margin. The Blue Hens' other CAA win came in double overtime at Rhode Island while its lone loss came at the hands of Elon by a 42-7 score.
The Blue Hens have primarily used two different quarterbacks this season with senior Pat Kehoe leading the team with 748 yards on 69-of-114 passing. Kehoe has thrown eight touchdowns but has seven interceptions. Junior Noland Henderson has missed the past game and a half due to an injury but has completed 50-of-84 for 552 yards. Henderson has thrown for seven touchdowns without an interception. He has also rushed 44 times for 65 yards this season.
The Blue Hens are led on the ground by Will Knight who has 446 yards rushing on 57 carries. DeJoun Lee is second on the team with 227 yards rushing while Andre Robinson has 211 yards. Thyrick Pitts is the leading receiver, catching 26 passes for 418 yards while Bruce De Maille leads the team with four receiving touchdowns.
