Swimming and Diving Hosts Youth Life Foundation for Swimming Events
10/25/2019 | Women's Swimming & Diving
RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond swimming and diving team hosted the Youth Life Foundation of Richmond (YLFR) for the ninth-straight year at the Robins Center Natatorium on Friday afternoon. The Friday session concluded a weekly event that allowed the swim and dive team to work with the children of YLFR for the last three Fridays.
The Spiders and YLFR first started this event in 2010 and have continued annually each fall. This year, YLFR met at the Robins Center Natatorium at each of the last three Friday's for swimming instruction. The Spiders instructed for the first 30 minutes of the exercise before finishing the lesson with a time for the students to continue perfecting their new swimming techniques in a less structured environment.

The YLFR operates learning centers to develop leaders by making long-term investments in children from at-risk communities. By supporting students academically, developing their character from a young age, raising expectations and investing in their lives through committed mentoring relationships, these youth will rise above their circumstances to become tomorrow's leaders. YLFR accomplishes their mission through after-school and summer programs that cultivate academic success, character development, spiritual identity, physical and emotional security and family and community connection.
