Cross Country Set to Race in the Great American Cross Country Festival in North Carolina
10/04/2019 | Cross Country
RICHMOND, Va. – After a tough weekend on the course at the Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational last weekend, the Spiders get right back after it this weekend at the Great American Cross Country Fest in Cary, North Carolina. The men will start the day with an 8k race at 9:20 a.m., Saturday morning. The women will follow with a 5k run of their own set to begin at 10:15 a.m. at Wakemed Park.
This will be the third-consecutive race that the men will be running an 8k course. Last weekend, Peter Borger (Malvern, Pa.) and Trey Burleson (Moseley, Va.) each set personal records with times of 25:15.5 and 26:02.6, respectively. Miles Clikeman has been the first Spider to cross the finish line in all three races this season. He ran the 8k course at Panorama Farms last weekend with a time of 24:45.7.
The rookies were some of the top finishers over the first couple races on the women's side, but the veterans got the better end of last week's race. In a 6k course at Panorama Farms, sophomore Johanna Lupica (Richmond, Va.) was the first Spider in with a personal record of 22:28.3, followed by senior Claire Brown. In the last 5k race, freshman Kate Dickow (Lititz, Pa.) finished third overall and will look to improve on her personal record of 18:33.5 that she set at the Mason Invitational.
