Purcell Earns Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week Honors

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Sophomore swimmer Maggie Purcell (Southampton, N.Y.) added another Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week award as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon. This is Purcell's second Performer of the Week award this season, second of her career after earning three Rookie of the Week awards last season as a freshman.

Last week at the dual meets with Virginia Tech and the reigning Division II National Champion Queens University, Purcell earned three individual awards. She swam a season-best in the 100-yard breaststroke, turning in a time of 1:04.24 and added a first place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:19.67. She added another 200 IM victory after finishing in 2:05.78, 1.14 seconds faster than the next closest competitor.

Purcell and the Spiders are back in action next week as they head to A-10 foe George Mason for the Patriot Invitational November 21-23.
