RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's lacrosse program announced a big addition to the roster Saturday as Penn State transfer Marina Miller (Wexford, Pa./Penn State) will join the team in January as a sophomore and will be immediately eligible. Miller played in nine games last season as a true freshman for the Big Ten squad as a midfielder.
"We are thrilled to welcome Marina to Richmond, head coach Allison Kwolek said. "She is a fast and aggressive midfielder and a confident young woman. I'm looking forward to her contributing in all aspects of the program."
Miller, a native of Wexford, Pennsylvania, will have three years of eligibility remaining. She played in nine games last year, including four in Big Ten play, scoring her first career collegiate goal against Lehigh. She accounted for six draw controls, with a career-high three against Northwestern.
Prior to Penn State, Miller was a four-year letterwinner at Pine-Richland High School where she was a two-time team captain. She was named the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Player of the Year as a senior and led Pine-Richland to back-to-back Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic League (WPIAL) titles. She scored 85 goals and handed out 24 assists her senior season.
Miller was a three-time All-America selection and a four-time All-WPIAL honor. She was a four-time member of the US Lacrosse National Tournament team. She ended her career as Pine-Richland's all-time leading scorer with 325 goals and 94 assist. She was a member of the Inside Lacrosse Power 100 for the class of 2018 and was rated as a 4.5 star prospect. Additionally, she played field hockey and ran cross country, leading Pine-Richland to a pair of field hockey WPIAL titles.
