Day Three Atlantic Ten Championships Wraps with Medals

Geneva, Ohio - Day three comes to a close with several Spiders setting PRs and making it to the podium to score points for the team.
The Spiders raced in the 400IM, the 100 fly, the 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back and the 400 medley relay.
In prelims, four Spiders raced in the 400IM, freshman Ashley Meyer went 4:38.02, twelve full seconds below her seeded time.  Freshman Jenna Carastro went 4:29.89 for a PR to take eighteenth overall. Senior Nicole Piercy (4:23.58) and junior Lexie Gilbert (4:22.96) advanced to finals. In the 100 fly, Eliza Manning was the sole Spider and went a 55.86 - just shy of a PR and advanced into the consolation finals. The 200 free saw four Spiders race. Seniors Morgan Soulia and Lauren Wallace advanced to finals with PRs and times of 1:49.27 and 1:49.40 respectively, while freshman Grace Palfreyman advanced to consolation finals with 1:52.46. Freshman Kristine Mihm raced a 1:55.36 on the day. The 100 breaststroke saw Maggie Purcell race, putting up a time of 1:04.37 to advance to consolation finals. In the 100 backstroke, senior Bryn Robertson went a 1:00.42. Sophomore Ellie Ronan went 56.57 to advance to consolation finals. Junior Hannah Gouger went 53.38, just shy of her PR, to advance to the finals.Â
Finals saw strong performances across the events from a number of events. Piercy and Gilbert took fourth and fifth respectively in the finals. Piercy posted a time of 4:20.53, a PR, while Gilbert went 4:21.54. Manning competed in the 100 fly, taking second and tenth overall with a personal best of 55.58. The 200 free had three Spiders: Palfreyman took eighth in consolation finals, Soulia (1:49.17) and Wallace (1:49.41) took fourth and sixth respectively in a very competitive final. Purcell competed in the consolation final, winning the heat in 1:03.88, just shy of a personal best. Ronan and Gouger competed in the 100 back. Ronan, in the consolation finals, took second with a time of 56.04. Gouger crushed her PR with a time of 52.95, winning the event and qualifying for NCAA B cut.  The final event of the night was the 400 medley relay with Gouger, Purcell, Manning and Soulia. In a performance that earned them second place on the podium, the Spiders combined for a time of 3:42.76. Â
The final day of competition kicks off tomorrow at 10am with swimming prelims, 12:30pm with diving, 3pm with the 1,650 free event and 6:30pm with all other events competing. Don't forget to follow your Spiders on social media - @SpiderSwimDive.
