
Mitchell Leads Spiders On Day One At Kiawah Island

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. -- Freshman Naomi Mitchell fired a one-over-par 73 in the first round at the Kiawah Island Spring Classic at the Osprey Point Golf Course on Sunday, tops among five Spiders competing in the three-day event.Â
Mitchell is tied for 36th among the 254 golfers in the field after registering a pair of birdies and three bogeys. Her score of 73 is tied for her second-lowest of the season, trailing only her even-par 72 in the opening round of Richmond's match vs Columbia in October.
As a team, Richmond is tied for 29th along with Presbyterian, Omaha, and UT Arlington in the 49-team field at 309 (+21). The Spiders will tee off in the second round on Monday at 8:30 AM.
