KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. -- Richmond registered a team score of 317 (+29) in the second round of the Kiawah Island Spring Classic Monday in South Carolina. Playing the difficult Oak Point Course, none of Richmond's five golfers threatened par, with senior Annie Collom and sophomore Lizzie Reedy tying for the best score amongst the Spiders at 77 (+5).
"We played a narrow golf course today and didn't keep the ball in play which resulted in too many double bogeys," said coach Ali Wright.
The Spiders are in 36th in the 49-team field with a two-day total of 626 (+50). Collom is the top Spider on the individual leaderboard at 152 (+8), tied for 85th in the field of 254. Reedy and freshman Naomi Mitchell are two strokes behind at 154 (+10), tied for 116th.Â
Richmond will return to the Oak Point course for Tuesday's third and final round. The Spiders will tee off as part of the 8:45 AM shotgun start. Wright says the team is "looking forward" to getting another shot at the challenging layout.
