Spiders Share Title At Bucknell Spring Break Intercollegiate

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Richmond Spiders women's golf team overcame a three-shot deficit in the final round to catch Appalachian State and share the team title with the Mountaineers at the Bucknell Spring Break Intercollegiate on Tuesday. The Spiders combined for a team score of 304 (+16) in the second round of the 36-hole event – best of any team in the six-team field – and finished the tournament with a total score of 610 (+34), equaling Appalachian State.

Freshman Emily Ward shot an even-par 72 on Tuesday – matching her lowest round of the season – and finished the tournament at 147 (+3), placing second in the field of 34. She was joined by two other Spiders in the top 10. Freshman Naomi Mitchell finished seventh at 152 (+8) and senior Annie Collom placed eighth at 154 (+10). The result was the first top-10 finish of Ward's career, while it was the second top 10 for Mitchell and the 10^th for Collom.

The win was Richmond's first tournament title since winning its third straight conference title at the 2018 Patriot League Championship. The Spiders will return to Florida in two weeks to compete at the Babs Steffens Invitational in Daytona Beach on March 24-25.
