RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond men's lacrosse head coach Dan Chemotti announced this week that he has named senior Nathan Emery (Burlington, Ontario) as one of the Spider team captains for the remainder of the year. Emery joins the other four Spider captains in Teddy Hatfield (Summit, N.J.), Tate Gallagher (Ardmore, Pa.), Coleman Kissick (Cohasset, Mass.) and Drew Petkevich (Bethesda, Md).
Emery has played in 29 career games for the Spiders, including seven this season. He made his first start of the year in the Spiders' win at Bucknell and scored his first goal of the season when Richmond downed VMI in the Southern Conference opener. He is a two-time Southern Conference Honor Roll selection for the Spiders.
Hatfield is the Spiders' all-time leader in career goals with 106, assists with 85 and points with 191. He has played in 57 career games for the Spiders and also holds the career marks for the SoCon. This season, Hatfield is second on the team with 19 goals while leading the Spiders with 18 assists and 37 points.
Gallagher, the only junior among the captains, has played in 27 career games, including all eight this season. He has scored 11 career goals and dished out eight assists in his 27 career games. This year has been his most productive so far with nine goals and four assists, both career highs.
Kissick has played in 26 career games for the Spiders, including four this season. He scored his first career goal last year in the Spiders' victory over High Point. Last season, he tallied 19 ground balls and forced seven turnovers on the defensive end.
Petkevich has appeared in 19 games for the Spiders in his three-year career after transferring in from Penn State. He made his first start of the season last time out against Furman and has appeared in five games this year. He has dished out three assists this year, all coming in the Spiders' win over VMI.
The Spiders return to action this weekend for the first of four-straight road games and a string where they play five out of their last six games in the regular season away from home. Richmond heads to Louisville, Ky., for a meeting against Bellarmine in SoCon play.
