UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- Senior Annie Collom was named Patriot League Women's Golfer of the Week after finishing third at the Hoya Invitational in Poolesville, Md., the conference announced Wednesday. It was Collom's first career weekly conference honor.Â
Collom finished the 54-hole tournament with a score of 220 (+4), the lowest of her career and tied for the ninth-lowest 54-hole score in program history. Collom's three-under 69 in Monday afternoon's second round was tied for the fourth-best single-round score ever by a Spider. Her third-place finish in the field of 46 was Collom's third career top-five finish in a full-field event, joining a pair of fourth-place results at the 2016 Bulldog Florida Invitational and 2017 Navy Fall Invitational.
Collom becomes the third Spider honored by the conference this season. Senior Sophie DiPetrillo was named the Patriot League's Golfer of the Month in September and freshman Emily Ward earned Patriot League Golfer of the Week honors on March 13.Â
Collom and the Spiders will return to the course when they host the Patriot League Women's Golf Championship at Independence Golf Club in Midlothian, Va. on April 20-21. Richmond has won each of the last three Patriot League titles.Â
