Relay Breaks School Record at Duke Invitational

This weekend saw the Spiders compete on both coasts as members of the women's track and field squad traveled to Los Angeles, Calif. while the rest of the team made a shorter journey to the Duke Invitational. The 4x400m relay set a new program record and several athletes set new personal bests as well.
At the Mt. SAC Relays, Ave Grosenheider and Jordan Angers both competed in the 10k event. Grosenheider set a new personal record time of 35:45.91 while Angers ran a 36:24.18. Eryn Mills also competed in Los Angeles, taking fourth in her section of the 3k steeplechase with a time of 10:27.89.Â
The rest of the women's team competed at the Duke Invitational. Freshman Rachel Helbling continued to set strong marks among a competitive field taking third overall in the 400m with a time of 54.62 winning her section while teammate Maria Acosta put up a time of 56.33 to sit in the top 20 finishers. Kendra Smither competed in the 800m event with a time of 2:15.16 ahead of teammate Claire Brown (2:16.67). In the 1500m event, Amanda Corbosiero (4:25.14), Smither (4:41.39), Brooke Fazio (4:41.87), Caroline Robelen (4:42.92) and Brown (4:43.91) all competed for the Spiders. In the 4x400m relay, the team of Helbling, Acosta, Tamar Accius and Fazio continued to break records this season, setting a new program mark time of 3:43.56, breaking a time set earlier this season.
The cross country men running at the Duke Invitational did well. Peter Borger (15:11.74), Trey Burleson (15:35.53), Noah Campbell (15:44.40) and James Flanagan (16:01.46) all ran the men's 5k event.
Your Spiders will travel to the Penn Relays and the Virginia Grand Prix next weekend ahead of the Atlantic 10 Conference Championships May 3rd-5th.
