Ryan Lanchbury and Mitch Savoca Earn All-America Accolades

RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond men's lacrosse sophomore attack Ryan Lanchbury (Burlington, Ontario) and sophomore midfielder Mitch Savoca (Newtown, Conn.) have been named Honorable Mention All-America by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA). Lanchbury and Savoca join former Spiders Brendan Hynes and Benny Pugh as the only four All-Americans in the six-year history of the program.
Lanchbury had a season for the record books, earning First Team All-Southern Conference honors and being named to the SoCon All-Tournament Team. He set the Richmond single-season scoring record with 72 points and 52 goals. His 52 goals also set the SoCon single-season goal scoring record. He is currently sixth in the nation in goals and 14th in the country in points.
Lanchbury also set the single-season record with 140 shots and 87 shots on goal this year. He scored three or more goals in 13 of 17 games this season, including five against then third-ranked Maryland. He also scored multiple goals against No. 6 Notre Dame, No. 5 Duke and No. 11 High Point. He is already fifth all-time in Richmond career scoring history after just two seasons with 115 points and is fourth all-time with 80 career goals.
Savoca becomes the fourth player in program history to earn All-America honors after finishing third on the team in scoring with 31 points from the midfield. He scored 24 goals on the year, while adding seven assists in 17 games. He scored multiple goals six times on the year, including four goals against Bellarmine and No. 11 High Point.
Savoca scored seven goals in the final four games of the season, including two in the NCAA Tournament against No. 5 Duke. The sophomore already ranks eighth in program history with 50 goals, having scored 26 as a freshman and 24 as a sophomore.
