06/28/2019 | Men's Lacrosse
RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond senior men's lacrosse student-athlete Teddy Hatfield (Summit, N.J.) was named Scholar All-America by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Friday. Hatfield is one of just 73 student-athletes in NCAA Division I to earn this honor this season.
Hatfield, a First Team All-Southern Conference selection, finished the season with 71 total points, record second on the team with 36 goals and leading the team with 35 assists. He is ranked No. 17 in the nation in points, No. 16 in assists and No. 41 in goals this year. He earned SoCon All-Tournament honors this year, helping the Spiders win their second-straight SoCon Tournament title and advancing to the NCAA Tournament. He became the first player un SoCon history to earn All-Tournament honors four times in a career.
Hatfield finished his Richmond career as the all-time lead in both school and SoCon history in points (225), goals (123) and assists (102). He holds the second (71), third (59) and fourth (56) most points in a single-season in Richmond history while owning the top three seasons in program history in assists with 35, 26 and 23. Additionally, he set the Richmond record by playing and starting all 66 games in his career.
A USILA Scholar All-American must be nominated by his coach and be a student with a senior year academic standing and a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (4.0 scale). The nominee will have behaved in a manner that has brought credit to himself, his institution, and to college lacrosse both on and off the field. He must also be an All-American, a member of a North/South team, or an outstanding league or conference player. Please note that simply being a member of the North/South team and/or being All League/Conference does not make the Student-Athlete a lock for the award. Each Individual will be evaluated on a case by case basis by the Scholar AA committee.
