Women’s Track and Field Tallies Seven Top-5 Finishes at Patriot Games

FAIRFAX, Va. – The University of Richmond women's track and field team tallied seven top-five finishes, including two first-place finishes, on Saturday at the Patriot Games, hosted by George Mason.
Freshman Morgan Crocker (Richmond, Va.) collected first place in the long jump with a distance of 5.61 meters, just shy of her personal record of 5.63 set at the VMI Keydet Invitational (Jan. 18.).
Senior Claire Brown (Erie, Pa.) won the mile with a time of 4:59.70, just 0.03 ahead of second-place.
In the 1,000-meter run, freshman Kate McAndrew (Denville, N.J.) took fourth and collected a personal record with a time of 2:54.84 while sophomore Kendra Smither (Richmond, Va.) took sixth (2:57.68). Brown also finished ninth in the event with a time of 2:58.60.
Freshman Anna George (Montville, N.J.) finished second in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:04.89 while junior Caroline Robelen (Glen Allen, Va.) took third (10:15.12).
Sophomore Tamar Accius (Jacksonville, Fla.) finished third in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.83 while senior Nai'lah Rowe (Norfolk, Va.) took eighth with a time of 8.10.
In the 200-meter dash, Accius finished fourth with a time of 25.71, while senior Haley Berkeley (Richmond, Va.) took sixth (26.30).
In the 60-meter hurdles, freshman Kamryn Ross (Richmond, Va.) and Berkeley finished in sixth and seventh-place, respectively. Ross turned in a time of 9.28, while Berkeley collected a time of 9.34. Ross also took seventh in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:22.19.
Freshman Kayla O'Connell (Marshfield, Mass.) finished sixth in the 800-meter run, posting a time of 2:20.99.
Spiders men's cross country was represented at the Patriot Games as well. Freshman Riley Fletcher (East Northport, Va.) finished third in the second section of the mile with a time of 4:31.20, while redshirt freshman James Quinn (Nutley, N.J.) took second in the third section of the mile (4:39.47).
Freshman Jake Schindel (Richmond, Va.) placed fourth in his 800-meter run debut with a time of 1:57.79.
Junior Trey Burleson (Moseley, Va.) won the second section of the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:29.80. In the third section of the 1,000-meter run, senior Will Alpaugh (Bethlehem, Pa.) took third (2:36.16) while Fletcher finished fifth (2:41.20).
The women's track and field team next competes on Friday, Jan. 31 and Saturday, Feb. 1, at the Penn State National Invitational in University Park, Pa.
