Spiders Back At Home Against St. Bonaventure

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's basketball team returns home for an Atlantic 10 matchup against St. Bonaventure on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 2, at 1 p.m. at the Robins Center.
LAST TIME OUT
Richmond fell on the road at UMass, 64-50, on field trip day at the Mullins Center on Jan. 29. The Spiders fell behind 29-23 at halftime but tied the game at 31-31 in the third quarter before an 11-0 run from UMass seal the victory.
The Minutewomen's Sam Breen scored a career-high 26 points with eight rebounds in her first start of the season. Richmond's Kate Klimkiewicz kept the Spiders close with 15 points off 4-for-8 shooting from the three-point line. Claire Holt added 13 points and was 4-for-4 from the free throw line. UMass shot 52.6 percent from the three-point line off 10-for-19 shooting. Breen and Hailey Leidel each hit three three-pointers in the win.
The Spiders finished with 18 turnovers and were outscored 17-10 in the fourth quarter. Richmond has lost five-straight road games, including 0-4 in Atlantic 10 road contests.
HISTORY AGAINST ST. BONAVENTURE
This will be the 23rd meeting between the two teams with Richmond holding a 14-8 advantage, including three-straight wins in the all-time series. This will be the first of two meetings between the teams as the Spiders will travel to Olean, N.Y. on Feb. 23. In the previous meeting, Richmond earned a 57-49 win at the Robins Center on Feb. 13, 2019. Jaide Hinds-Clarke had 10 points and nine rebounds. The Spiders outscored the Bonnies, 21-12 in the first quarter and led wire-to-wire.
HINDS-CLARKE STEALS LEADER IN THE A-10
Senior Jaide Hinds-Clarke leads the Spiders and the Atlantic 10 with 47 steals, including 22 in her last eight games. Hinds-Clarke swiped four in a home win against Norfolk State, two steals against Saint Joseph's and four steals against Rhode Island. Hinds-Clarke only had one steal against Dayton and VCU. She came away with three steals in the win against La Salle and tied her season-high with five steals in a win against Davidson. Hinds-Clarke swiped two in the first quarter at UMass.
ABOUT ST. BONAVENTURE
St. Bonaventure is 5-16 overall on the season and have lost four of its last five games. The Bonnies are 2-6 in A-10 games after a road loss at Duquesne, 58-39, on Jan. 30. Deja Francis led the team with 11 points. Asianae Johnson added nine points and six rebounds. The Bonnies are led by Johnson who is averaging 12.4 points per game. Dajah Logan is second on the team at 10.3 points per game.
SPIDERS NUMBERS UP FROM A SEASON AGO
Richmond was 6-15 overall after 21 games last season and are 9-12 in 2019-20. The Spiders have already earned three more wins than last season (21 games in) and are shooting a higher percentage at 39.3 compared to 33.2 in 2018-19. Richmond has hit 12 more three-pointers and has dished out 282 assists compared to just 215 last season. The Spiders are also scoring more points at 62.0 points per game after only scoring 53.4 points per game at 21 games into the season. Richmond has already tied its total win mark of 9 from 2018-19.
