Geiersbach Named to Tewaaraton Award Watch List

WASHINGTON, D.C. – University of Richmond redshirt junior attack Sam Geiersbach has been named to the 2020 Tewaaraton Award Watch List, college lacrosse's highest honor, The Tewaaraton Foundation announced Thursday.
The West Babylon, N.Y. native is eighth in NCAA Division I with a career average of 4.21 points per game and 12th with a 2.86 goals per game average. Her 120 career goals rank 21st among Division I athletes while her 57 career assists rank 17th in the nation and 10th in UR program history.
Geiersbach opened the 2020 season scoring three goals and tallying an assist in Richmond's 20-6 victory over Longwood Saturday, February 8.
In 2019, she posted the program's third-most points (88) and collected First Team All-Atlantic 10, A-10 Tournament MVP and A-10 All-Tournament accolades. Geiersbach has two of the top-4 single-season point totals in school history. As a freshman, Geiersbach's 85 points set a then-school record for points (since passed by Kim Egizi '18 (97) and Marissa Brown '19 (89). She capped off one of the best rookie campaigns in school history by garnering A-10 Rookie of the Year, A-10 All-Rookie Team and A-10 Second Team honors.
The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are made up of premier collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by The Tewaaraton Foundation.
The Spiders return to action Saturday when they take on Radford at 1 p.m. at Cupp Stadium.
