Women’s Track Heads to VMI Classic & David Hemery Valentine Invitational

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's track and field team will head to the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston, Mass., and the VMI Classic in Lexington, Va., Friday and Saturday. Live results can be found at www.richmondspiders.com.
Heading to Boston for the Spiders will be senior Maria Acosta (Maywood, N.J.), senior Claire Brown (Erie, Pa.), junior Brooke Fazio (Basking Ridge, N.J.) and sophomore Rachel Helbling (McDonald, Pa.). The quartet will run in the Distance Medley Relay, as well as individual events.
Fazio was named as the Atlantic 10 Women's Track Athlete of the Week Tuesday after posting a time of 2:08.77 in the Elite 800-meter race at the Camel City Invitational Saturday.
A Spider contingent of 19 student-athletes will be heading to the VMI Classic in Lexington, Va. This is the second time this indoor season that Richmond will be competing at the VMI Indoor Track Complex.
Freshman Morgan Crocker (Richmond, Va.) and Kayla Woods (Wilmington, Del.) are both compete in the long jump while Crocker will also compete in the triple jump.
Freshmen Anna George (Montville, N.J.) and Lily Snow (Richmond, Va.) will both take on the competition in the mile. George posted a career-best time of 4:57.08 to finish third at the Penn State National Open in January.
Reining Atlantic 10 Women's Rookie of the Week freshman Kamryn Ross (Richmond, Va.) will compete in the 60-meter hurdles. Ross set the new UR record time of 8.72 in the 60-meter hurdles at the Camel City Invitational. Senior Haley Berkeley (Richmond, Va.) will also line up for the 60-meter hurdles and the 60-meter dash.
Senior Erika Echternach (Lititz, Pa.) and sophomore Caitlin O'Hare (Middletown, N.J.) will race in the 3,000-meter run. O'Hare posted a career-best 3K time of 10:53.08 at the 2019 Patriot Games.
