03/15/2020 | General, Men's Basketball, Spider Athletic Fund
In light of the unprecedented end to a memorable, record-setting season of Richmond basketball, a special season finale of Spider Talk with Coach Chris Mooney has been scheduled to air Monday March 16 at its regularly scheduled time of 5:30-6:30pm. The studio-style show will not be held at its season-long home at Glory Days Grill, and there will be no on-location audience.
Spider Talk, hosted by "Voice of the Spiders" Bob Black, can be heard live on ESPN Richmond's 99.5 & 102.7 FM and 950 AM, as well as online at RichmondSpiders.com, espnrichmond.com, and on the TuneIn app. An audio archive of the show will available on the SpiderTV page and in the Audio Vault at espnrichmond.com.Â

Redshirt junior Nick Sherod is scheduled to join the show via phone to discuss the season and the days spent in Brooklyn without ever entering Barclays Center or playing in the Atlantic 10 tournament. Sherod shot 44% from three-point range, draining a career-high 78 three pointers, while averaging 12.7 points per game. He reached double-figures in the last four games, shooting a blistering 62% (13-21) from distance. He has scored 1192 points in his Spider career, with 13 20-point games, 57 double-figure scoring games, and three double-doubles including 13 points and 11 rebounds in what turned out to be the season finale victory at Duquesne.
The Spiders finished the regular season with four straight wins and nine victories in the past 10 games, leaving their record at 24-7 overall and 14-4 in the Atlantic 10, good for sole possession of second place. The Spiders were 38th in the last NET rankings and a likely NCAA Tournament at-large team, according to most bracketologists, including ESPN'S Joe Lunardi and CBS' Jerry Palm.  The 24 wins equals the mark set by the 2010 and 2011 NCAA teams for most regular season wins, and the 14 conference triumphs sets the program record for league victories.
This will be the season finale of Spider Talk with Coach Chris Mooney, which was held in front of large crowds at Glory Days Grill in the GlenEagles Shopping Center in Richmond's West End, Monday nights during the college basketball season. Spider Talk is a production of the Spider Sports Network from Learfield/IMG College in association with ESPN Richmond, the Radio Home of Spider Athletics for 14 consecutive years.
