Mitchell Leads Spiders On First Day At River Landing Classic

WALLACE, N.C. -- Sophomore Naomi Mitchell paced the Spiders over the first two rounds at the River Landing Classic on Monday, carding rounds of 74 and 79 for a total of 153 (+9) that placed her in a tie for 33rd on the leaderboard after 36 holes. In Monday morning's first round, Mitchell registered three birdies, three bogeys, and a double-bogey and was tied for ninth in the field of 68 through 18 holes at two-over par, the lowest round by any Spider on the day.Â
Two other Spiders are in the top 40 on the leaderboard through two rounds. Sophomore Emily Ward and freshman Muskan Uppal are tied for 40th at 155 (+11). Ward recorded three birdies on Monday, while Uppal's 26 pars on Monday were tied for third most in the field.Â
As a team, the Spiders are tied for 11th in the field of 12 at 43-over par (619). Tuesday's third and final round will begin with a shotgun start at 8:45 AM.Â
