RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's basketball head coach Aaron Roussell has announced the addition of Kate Walker as the new graduate assistant.
"Our Program got a lot better today; Kate has been a winner with every organization she has ever been a part of and that is not by coincidence," Roussell said. "I am incredibly excited to add Kate Walker to our staff for so many reasons. First, as her college coach I am thrilled to see her in the coaching world – she has a bright future in this business. Second, our current players and staff are going to see how much of a valuable resource she will be to our future successes. Lastly, personally I am so happy that my family and I get to be around her again. Kate is an incredible role model for my own kids, as well as for our student-athletes."
Kate Walker (Red Oak, Iowa) – Graduate Assistant
Walker was a four-year standout at Bucknell and became a two-time All-Patriot League member (First Team in 2018, Second Team in 2019). Walker was a team captain and two-time Patriot League All-Tournament Team selection (2018, 2019). She graduated 19th in program history with 1,130 points, seventh in 3-point field goals (124) and seventh in 3-point field goal attempts (352). Walker played in 123 games, including 77 starts while averaging 9.2 points per game. In her final collegiate game against Florida State in the NCAA Tournament she led all scorers with 18 points. In high school, Walker was All-State in five different sports (basketball, tennis, volleyball, cross country, track & field).
Walker was a four-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and received the Ronald J. "Pete" Pedrick Award, presented to a Bucknell senior student-athlete in recognition of demonstrated improvement and special contributions to Bucknell athletics over a four-year period. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education and Psychology. Walker spent the last eight months in a post-graduate leadership development program at the Kanakuk Institute in Missouri.
