Men’s Tennis Announces 2021 Spring Schedule

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond men's tennis team has announced its 2021 schedule and will play 17 matches, including 12 at the Westhampton Tennis Courts.
The season will begin on Saturday, Feb. 13 with a road match at Navy in Annapolis, Maryland. The Spiders will continue on the road with a match against Old Dominion on Sunday, Feb. 21 in Norfolk.
Richmond will host a double-header on Sunday, Feb. 28 against Methodist and Hampden-Sydney College at the Westhampton Tennis Courts.
The Spiders will then head to Lynchburg, Virginia to face Liberty on Thursday, March 4. UR will face William & Mary on Friday, March 5 in Williamsburg, Virginia.
Richmond will host crosstown rival VCU on Sunday, March 7 at the Westhampton Tennis Courts in the first A-10 matchup of the season. Seven days later, UR will host Norfolk State (March 14) and Delaware (March 20) at the Westhampton Tennis Courts. The home stand continues with home matches against A-10 foe Duquesne (March 21) and Virginia Wesleyan (March 26).
The Spiders will host their second double-header of the season against Christopher Newport and Davidson on Sunday, March 28 at the Westhampton Tennis Courts. In their final road match, UR will head to Fairfax, Virginia to take on George Mason on Thursday, April 1.
The regular season concludes with three-straight home matches against James Madison (April 3), a rematch against William & Mary (April 14) and an A-10 match against Saint Joseph's on Friday, April 16.
The A-10 Championships will run from April 28 through May 2.
The Spiders welcome back four juniors in Campbell Erwin (San Antonio, Texas), Josh Keitelman (Chevy Chase, Md.), John Walsh (Bryn Mawr, Pa.) and Alex Wernink (Glen Cove, N.Y.). Fifth-year senior Matt Fernandez (Richmond, Va.) returns after earned A-10 First Team All-Conference honors in 2019.
