Spiders Open 2021 A-10 Season At St. Bonaventure

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's basketball team will open the new year with a two-game road swing starting at St. Bonaventure on Friday, Jan. 8 at 6 p.m. The game will be broadcasted on ESPN plus.
ABOUT ST. BONAVENTURE
St. Bonaventure is 1-4 on the season and 0-2 in Atlantic 10 games with losses against Duquesne (71-63) and Dayton (56-47). The Bonnies played three non-conference games with their only win coming against Binghamton (67-57). Asianae Johnson leads the team in scoring at 13.2 points per game and leads the team with 15 assists. Tori Harris is second in scoring at 11.6 points per game. The Bonnies are only averaging 57.2 points per game.
HISTORY AGAINST ST. BONAVENTURE
Richmond holds a 16-8 all-time record against St. Bonaventure and is looking for their sixth-straight win in the series. Last season, the Spiders went 2-0 against the Bonnies. The first meeting was a 63-59 overtime win at the Robins Center on Feb. 2. In the rematch, UR earned a 72-58 road win at St. Bonaventure on Feb. 23. Richmond took an 18-9 first quarter lead and never looked back thanks to former Spider Jaide Hinds-Clarke scoring 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to post a double-double.
HOMECOMING FOR RYAN & LEWANDOWSKI
Freshmen Siobhan Ryan (Buffalo, N.Y.) and Kylee Lewandowski (Pittsburgh, Pa.) will both be returning home when Richmond faces St. Bonaventure (Jan. 8) and Duquesne (Jan. 10). Ryan is coming off her first career double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds against Howard. Ryan played her high school basketball an hour and a half from St. Bonaventure (Olean, N.Y.). Lewandowski has appeared in five of the six games this season and will return to Pittsburgh where she is from.
NO SOPHOMORE SLUMP FOR CHAPMAN
Sophomore forward Elaina Chapman is having a solid sophomore season leading the team in rebounding at 9.0 boards per game. Chapman has pulled down five or more rebounds in every game, including a new career-high 14 rebounds against Navy. Chapman is second on the team with six blocks and third in assists with 13. Chapman finished with 11 rebounds against William & Mary. Chapman scored a season-high 11 points with seven rebounds against VCU. Chapman posted her third career double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds against Howard.
BUDNIK SITS 4TH IN THE NATION IN BLOCKS PER GAME
Freshman Addie Budnik posted a season-high six blocks at Howard and is fourth in the nation in blocks per game (3.50) with 21 in six games. Budnik's 21 blocks leads all freshmen in the NCAA with Stanford's Cameron Brink in 2nd with 20. Budnik is 13th in the nation with 21 total blocks.

The Spiders are 3-3 and are 0-1 in the A-10 after dropping an early conference game against VCU on Dec. 20. Richmond is hoping to bounce back after losing their final two games in December after opening the season 3-1.
In the previous game, Richmond fell on the road at Howard, 65-54, on Dec. 22. The Spiders were outscored 18-8 in the fourth quarter and were tied with four minutes left but just couldn't overcome 25 turnovers. Four players finished in double figures with sophomore Elaina Chapman posting a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman Siobhan Ryan also had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
