Field Hockey Falls to No. 14 Boston College

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond field hockey team battled, but fell to No. 14 Boston College, 3-0, Sunday afternoon at Crenshaw Field.
The Spiders fall to 4-9 on the season while the Eagles move to 9-3 on the year.
After 15 minutes of scoreless action, including four big saves by Spider goalkeeper Erika Latta (Midlothian, Va.) in the first frame, the Eagles tallied two goals in the second quarter. Latta finished the game with nine saves, one shy of matching her career high set against Miami (OH).
Richmond tallied five penalty corners and four shots in the third quarter, but were unable to get a shot past Boston College's defense and goalkeeper. Richmond finished with nine shots, with four on goal, and six penalty corners.
Boston College added a third goal in the 59th minute. The Eagles tallied 15 shots with 12 on goal and eight corners.
The Spiders head out on the road in Atlantic 10 play, taking on Lock Haven on Friday, October 15 at 3 p.m. Richmond wraps up the road trip against UMass, Sunday, Oct. 17 with a 1 p.m. contest in Amherst, Mass.
