LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The University of Richmond field hockey team suffered a 3-0 setback Friday afternoon to Lock Haven at Smith Field. The Spiders fall to 4-10 on the season and 3-2 in Atlantic 10 play while the Eagles move to 4-7 on the year and 2-3 in league play.
The Spiders out-shot the Eagles 14-6 and held a 12-2 advantage in penalty corners. Richmond tallied four corners in the second period and was awarded seven in the fourth quarter, but Lock Haven had answers for all of them.
Senior Steffie Bongers (Weert, The Netherlands) had three of her four shots on goal while junior Linsey Frank (Saratoga Springs, NY) tallied two of her five shots on goal.
Spider goalkeeper Erika Latta (Midlothian, Va.) picked up one save.
Lock Haven took a 1-0 lead into the half, scoring in the 16th minute of the first half. The Eagles then added two goals in the fourth quarter.
Richmond is back in action on Sunday at 1 p.m. to take on No. 20 UMass on ESPN+.
