Purcell Named Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Senior swimmer Maggie Purcell (Southampton, N.Y.) was named the Atlantic 10 Performer of the week for her efforts last week at the Richmond Duals. This is Purcell's seventh weekly award from the Atlantic 10, fourth Performer of the Week honor.
Purcell finished seven-for-eight on the weekend, taking first in all but one of her events. She opened the weekend with a first place finish in the 200 freestyle Friday night against Davidson, finishing in a time of 1:53.09. She followed that with a 2:05.01 time in the 200 backstroke for first and finished the individual events with a first place time of 2:06.25 in the 200 IM. She added the anchor leg of the 400 freestyle relay for the squad that took first at 3:30.88.
The following day, Purcell started the day with a second place finish as part of the 400 yard medley relay team at 3:54.77. She closed the weekend with a 2:20.73 time in the 200 breaststroke before wrapping up the weekend with a 4:28.23 time in the 400 IM to take first.
Purcell and the Spiders are back in the pool on Saturday, November 6th as the swimmers head to Charlotte, North Carolina for a matchup with Queens University.
