Richmond Draws Rematch Against Saint Joseph’s in A-10 Semifinals

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The University of Richmond field hockey squad clinched its 20th-straight Atlantic 10 Conference Championship tournament appearance with a 4-3 A-10 record, the league announced Saturday afternoon.
The Spiders, 5-12 on the season, are the four seed and will face top-seed and host Saint Joseph's. The squads will match up in the first semifinal contest Friday, Nov. 5 at 11 a.m. at Ellen Ryan Field in Philadelphia, Pa., on ESPN-Plus.
In the regular season match-up between the two squads, Saint Joseph's came away with a 1-0 victory, scoring in the last five minutes of the Sept. 26 game at Crenshaw Field.
Richmond is paced by senior Steffie Bongers (Weert, The Netherlands) with 17 points on six goals and five assists, including two penalty strokes, in 17 starts. Junior Lindsey Frank (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) has 16 points on five goals and six assists in 15 starts.
Goalkeeper Erika Latta (Midlothian, Va.) has played every minute of the Spiders 17 games in goal, making 94 saves on 247 shots faced for a .718 save percentage. Junior Tess Keppel (Baltimore, Md.) has tallied six assists and one defensive save while fellow defender Kaitlyn Csensits (Emmaus, Pa.) has one goal and three defensive saves this season.
Richmond closes out the 2021 regular season on the road Sunday, heading to Washington, D.C., to take on Georgetown for a noon contest at Cooper Field.
