Budnik Collects Third Atlantic 10 Rookie Of The Week Honor

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Freshman forward Addie Budnik (Highland Park, Ill.) helped the University of Richmond to a perfect 3-0 week and was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week on Monday.
It is the third A-10 weekly award for Budnik after averaging 11.0 points per game, 3.7 rebounds per game, four blocks per game and 1.66 assists per game. Budnik shot 50.0 percent from the field (13-for-26) in three wins last week and helped Richmond earn two more road wins at George Washington (W, 60-49) and at George Mason (W, 67-52) to improve to 5-0 on the road in A-10 play for the first time in school history.
The Highland Park, Ill. native, finished the week strong with 13 points in the win at George Washington and 16 points in the win at George Mason. Budnik continues to anchor the Spider defense with 12 blocks in three games last week. Her five blocks at George Mason was a season-high against A-10 opponents. She is sixth in the nation in total blocks with 46 in 14 games.
Budnik saved her best game for last going 6-for-11 from the field and hit a season-high 4-for-4 from the three-point line at George Mason. Budnik is second on the team in scoring at 11.4 points per game.
The last Spider to earn three A-10 Rookie of the Week honors was Jaide Hinds-Clarke during the 2016-17 season. UR returns to the court on Friday, Feb. 5 against Fordham at 5 p.m. at the Robins Center. The game will promote National Girls & Women in Sports Day (NGWSD).
