Women’s Track Has Strong First Day at Norfolk State Invitational

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The University of Richmond women's track team tallied two top-five finishes on the first day of the Kenneth Giles Norfolk State Invitational at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
Sophomore Kamryn Ross (Richmond, Va.) took second in the 60-meter hurdles, posting a time of 8.73. She posted a time of 9.04 in the prelims, finishing fifth, to qualify for the finals.
Richmond was well represented in the 400m. Junior Rachel Helbling (McDonald, Pa.) paced the Spiders with a fourth-place time of 55.50. In their 2021 season debut, sophomore Gabrielle Beneducci (Hampton, N.J.) finished eighth (1:00.76) and sophomore Maddie Orr (Rumson, N.J.) finished ninth (1:02.08), as junior Grace Mittl (Bethlehem, Pa.) crossed at 1:04.15.
The Spiders will return to Virginia Beach Sports Center for the second day of the Kenneth Giles Norfolk State Invitational Saturday.
