RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's basketball team received a stellar performance from junior Kate Klimkiewicz (Oakton, Va.) posting a double-double with 23 points and 13 rebounds in a 68-58 home win against Saint Joseph's Friday on the NBC Sports Network. Klimkiewicz set a new personal Atlantic 10 high with 23 points and was one rebound off her career high of 14 rebounds.
UR improved to 11-6 overall and holds an 8-4 A-10 record with three games remaining in the conference schedule.
"A good win for us," head coach Aaron Roussell said. "In this league, you're going to have to win in a multitude of ways. I thought we gave up way too many offensive rebounds. We overcame some things with rebounding but we got to the free throw line and got some easy baskets."
Klimkiewicz finished 8-for-13 from the field and was a perfect 3-for-3 from the three-point line. Junior Claire Holt (Hoover, Ala.) added nine points and was 5-for-6 from the free throw line. Freshman Addie Budnik (Highland Park, Ill.) only took four shots but finished with nine points, five rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks. Junior Emma Squires (Kingston, Mass.) provided nine points off the bench for the Spiders.
Richmond finished the game shooting 25-for-31 from the free throw line (80.6 percent) and was 19-for-52 from the field (36.5). The Spiders held Saint Joseph's to just 2-for-13 shooting from the three-point line and battled on the boards falling 43-41. The Hawks stayed in the game thanks to 19 offensive rebounds, which led to 17 second chance points.
The game came down to one clutch play with 2:42 remaining, Richmond held a 60-58 lead and with the shot clock winding down Budnik drilled a three-pointer to go ahead 63-58. The Hawks wouldn't score another point as Richmond made five free throws in the final minute to seal the home victory. Sophomore Kaliah Henderson led the way for Saint Joseph's with 19 points and nine rebounds. The Spiders held Katie Jekot, their leading scorer, to just seven points on 3-for-12 shooting.
In the third quarter, UR was outscored 17-16 as the Hawks went into the fourth quarter trailing by just five points. Klimkiewicz scored eight of her 23 points in the third quarter and Budnik added four points. The Hawks went to the free throw line 15 times in the third quarter going 11-for-15 to keep the game close.

UR outscored Saint Joseph's 18-13 in the second quarter to increase their lead. The second quarter saw multiple ties with Richmond tying the game for the third time at 27-27 off a layup from Parson.
