Meet the 2021 Spiders - Outfielders

RICHMOND, Va. – The Web added a few new members to its squad in preparation for the 2021 season. Meet the Spiders who will be patrolling the outfield this year.
Anthony Forte (Hoffman Estates, Ill.)
Johnny Hipsman (Chester, N.Y.)
Ricky Jones (Hopewell, Va.)
Austin Masel (Stoneham, Mass.)
Jordan Schulefand (Parkland, Fla.)
Wyatt Ulrich (Indus, Minn.)

Anthony Forte (Hoffman Estates, Ill.)
- 2019 First Team All Atlantic 10
- Led the 2019 Spiders with 12 home runs, three triples and 53 RBI, playing all 54 games in center field
- Started the first six games of 2020 before an injury cut his season short
- Tied for second on the team in home runs during the 2020 season
Johnny Hipsman (Chester, N.Y.)
- 2019 Freshman All Atlantic 10
- Started all 17 games in the outfield last year
- Began the 2020 season as the lead off man and hit the first Richmond home run of the season at Georgia
- Led the team with a .377 average as a freshman, finishing second in the Atlantic 10
- Led the Spiders with a .482 on-base percentage as a freshman
Ricky Jones (Hopewell, Va.)
- Competed at nearby Hopewell High during his prep career
- Made his collegiate debut against Virginia in early March
- His first collegiate hit was a double against Yale in 2020
Austin Masel (Stoneham, Mass.)
- Graduate transfer from Holy Cross
- Three-time All-Patriot League honoree
- Career .311 hitter with 95 RBI
- Two-time Hop Riopel Award winner (Holy Cross Most Valuable Player
- Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American in 2017
Jordan Schulefand (Parkland, Fla.)
- Started all 17 games last season, playing either centerfield or right field
- Hit for a .279 average in 2020, with four extra base hits and stole a team-high four bases
- Led the team in stolen bases in each of the last two seasons
- Worked 3.1 innings over three appearances on the mound, striking out six to earn a save without allowing an earned run in 2020
Wyatt Ulrich (Indus, Minn.)
- Transfer from Division III St. John's (MN)
- Career .391 hitter and stole 42 bases as a Johnnie
- Only member of the Bismarck Larks (Northwoods League) Hall of Fame after playing in Bismarck for four summers, competing against some of the top collegiate talent in the nation
- Northwoods League record holder in career runs scored
- Bismarck record holder in runs, hits, RBI and walks
