Cross Country Opens 2021 Season Hosting the Richmond Winter XC Invite
02/04/2021 | Cross Country
RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond cross country teams are back in action tomorrow as they host the Richmond Winter XC Invitational at Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville. The Spiders will be competing as a team for the first time since November 15th, 2019 at the NCAA Southeast Regionals.
The Spider men return 10 runners from last season's team and have added four newcomers, three freshmen and a transfer from Coastal Carolina. Juniors Peter Borger (Malvern, Pa.) and Noah Campbell (Montpelier, Va.) and senior Noah Yuro (Howell, N.J.) are among the top returners to the squad. Borger and Campbell routinely finished in the top three of Spider runners a season ago. Yuro was another solid performer who returns this year. At the Atlantic 10 Championships in 2019, he finished 18th with a time of 25:58.8 in the 8-kilometer race. Stuart Terrill (Crozet, Va.) is a freshman who has impressed during the unfamiliar fall season.
The women will be led by sophomore Lily Snow (Richmond, Va.) and senior Caroline Robelen (Glen Allen, Va.). Snow competed in several events her rookie year. She earned a top 20 finish at the Atlantic 10 Championships in 2019. In the first meet of her career, she finished third in the two-mile Spider Alumni Open's two-mile race. Robelen has been a consistent contributor to the cross country team over the last three seasons and is poised to continue to lead the Spiders in the condensed 2021 season. Elizabeth Stockman (Rocky Hill, Conn.) is a freshman who has impressed early in her Spider career. Stockman competed well among her teammates this fall as part of the team's time trials and preparation for this spring season.
Tomorrow's race begins at 2 p.m., with the women running a 5k race. The men's 8k race will begin at 2:45. Live results are linked to the Spider cross country schedule page.
