Stockman and Terrill Sweep Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week Awards

RICHMOND, Va. – After the first competition in almost 15 months, Spider cross country made their mark on the weekly conference awards, sweeping the women's and men's rookie of the week honors. Freshman Elizabeth Stockman (Rocky Hill, Conn.) and Stuart Terrill (Crozet, Va.) won Rookie of the Week for their performances at the Richmond Winter XC Invite last weekend.

Stockman was the third-place finisher in her first collegiate event. She turned in a 5k time of 17:35.7 in the competition. She finished with an average 5:40 mile time in the 3.1-mile race, closing the final mile in 5:34.4.

Terrill took first in his first collegiate meet, finishing in 24:42.5. The freshman stayed with the front group until the three-mile mark before separating. In the final half of the race, Terrill put nearly 20 seconds between himself and the second-place finisher, closing the final mile in 4:39.2 and leading the Spiders to the team victory and claiming four of the top five places.

Stockman and Terrill lead the Spider back in action on February 20^th as Richmond will co-host the Patriot/Spider Cross Country Classic with George Mason at Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville.
