Mitchell Named Patriot League Women's Golfer of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. -- Spiders junior Naomi Mitchell has been named the Patriot League's Women's Golfer of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday. Mitchell turned in one of the best individual performances ever by a Spider at the River Landing Classic in Wallace, N.C. on Monday and Tuesday, shooting 4-over par to match the ninth-best 54-hole score in program history.

Mitchell, who tied for 29th, opened with an even-par 72 on Monday and then shot a career-low 70 (-2) in Round 2 to post the third-lowest 36-hole score ever by a Spider at 142 (-2). Mitchell shot 78 in Round 3 to finish at 220, knocking six shots off her career-low tournament at Richmond.

Earlier in the week, Mitchell carded a 76 (+4) at The Match at Spring Creek in Zions Crossroads, Va. as Richmond competed against Virginia and Old Dominion. Mitchell's score was tied for the lowest among Spiders and placed her eighth in the field of 22.

This is Mitchell's first career Patriot League Golfer of the Week award.

The next full-field event for Mitchell and the Spiders will be William & Mary's Kingsmill Intercollegiate in Williamsburg, Va. on March 28-29.
