Field Hockey Draws Host VCU to Open A-10 Championship Friday

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond field hockey team clinched an Atlantic 10 Championship tournament berth Sunday with a 2-1 win over Davidson at Crenshaw Field. The league announced that A-10 regular season and South Division champion VCU (6-0) will host the championship, Friday and Saturday, April 23 and 24, at Cary Street Field.
The Spiders finished the season with a 4-2 league record will serve as the four seed. They will take on the host Rams at 11 a.m. Second seeded Lock Haven and third seeded Saint Joseph's will face off at 3 p.m.
The winners of the two semifinals will advance to meet in the championship final Saturday, April 24 at 12:00 p.m.

This spring season Richmond is led by junior Steffie Bongers (Weert, The Netherlands) with six goals, including her two Sunday against Davidson. Junior Olivia Frazier (Cary, N.C.) has a team leading 14 points with six assists and four goals.
Sophomore goalkeeper Erika Latta (Midlothian, Va.) has 23 saves on the season for a .821 save percentage in six games and has only allowed five goals for a 0.90 goals against average.
