RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond's redshirt senior Sam Geiersbach and freshman Sarah Roycroft have been named Atlantic 10 Offensive Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, the league announced Monday.
Geiersbach, a native of West Babylon, N.Y., collects her third career A-10 Offensive Player of the Week honors. In two Spider victories, Geiersbach tallied 11 points on seven goals and four assists, with one ground ball and 2-of-3 in free position shot attempts. She led the offense with four goals and three assists in UR's 19-13 victory over VCU, including netting the game-winner. Against George Mason, she collected a hat trick for her fifth multi-goal game of the season and tallied an assist and a ground ball.
Roycroft, a native of Westwood, Mass., picks up her first A-10 Rookie of the Week honors. In Richmond's 16-7 win at George Mason, Roycroft had three ground balls, just one shy of her career-high, and matched a career-high three caused turnovers.
Richmond closes the season with two home games at Robins Stadium. The Spiders will host the Wildcats of Davidson on Friday, April 23, with the opening draw is set for 4 p.m. Richmond will recognize nine seniors prior to the game.
