Klimkiewicz Named To CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's basketball junior Kate Klimkiewicz (Oakton, Va.) was selected to the 2020-21 Academic All-District 3 Team, announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday.
Klimkiewicz is now a candidate for Academic All-America.
Klimkiewicz earns her first Academic All-District selection after leading the Spiders in scoring this past season at 14.3 points per game and led the Atlantic 10 with 49 three-pointers made. Klimkiewicz was a A-10 All-Conference Second Team honoree and was named to the VaSID All-State Second Team. Klimkiewicz scored in double-figures 19 out of 22 games. She scored a career-high 25 points against Gardner-Webb and finished with 23 points twice against A-10 opponents Saint Joseph's and UMass. In the contest against UMass, she hit a career-high six three-pointers.
Not only was she a scoring threat but was second on the team in rebounding at 6.9 rebounds per game. The Oakton, Va. native posted three double-doubles this year against George Washington (14 points, 14 rebounds), Saint Joseph's (23 points, 13 rebounds) and GW (15 points, 11 rebounds) again in the A-10 Championship second round. Her 14 rebounds against GW was a career-high. Klimkiewicz also led the team with 43 steals, including eight in the A-10 Championship quarterfinal against Saint Louis. She led the team with 19 points in a one-point overtime loss against Saint Louis to finish the season.
The 2020-21 Academic All-District® Women's Basketball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. The cumulative grade-point average may NOT be rounded up to 3.30.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in late May.
The CoSIDA Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed on the following pages and are divided into geographic districts across the United States and Canada.
