Claire O'Shaughnessy Named Academic All-Atlantic 10

RICHMOND, Va. – The 2021 Atlantic 10 Champion Richmond swimming and diving team picked up an individual honor as announced by the league office this afternoon. Sophomore Claire O'Shaughnessy (Laurel, Md.) earned Academic All-Atlantic 10 honors for her efforts in the pool and in the classroom.

O'Shaughnessy, a psychology major, was a key piece to the Spiders' 16^th Atlantic 10 Championship. The sophomore set two school records, finishing the 200 butterfly in a school-record 1:59.53, and was a member of the relay team that set the new program mark at 3:21.03. She also took home points by finishing second in the 200 medley relay, third in the 100 butterfly, was a member of the second-place 400 medley relay and took sixth in the championship final of the 500 freestyle.

To be nominated, swimmers and divers must have a GPA of 3.0 or better (on a 4.0 scale) for their entire academic career. The teams were selected through voting conducted by the league's Sports Information Directors.
