RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond Vice President and Director of Athletics John P. Hardt announced Anne Harrington as the interim head coach of the Spider women's lacrosse program for the 2021-22 season.
"I am extremely pleased to name Anne Harrington as the interim head coach of the Spider Women's Lacrosse program," Hardt said "Anne has been one of the top assistant coaches in the country and a key contributor in building Spider women's lacrosse into a championship program. She will provide continuity and strong leadership for our program and I am looking forward to her leading our women's lacrosse student-athletes as they compete for another Atlantic 10 championship in 2022."
Harrington has spent the past five years on the Spiders' staff, including the past two seasons as the associate head coach. During her time at Richmond, the Spiders have recorded a 74-16 (.822 winning percent) mark that includes a 28-5 (.848) record in Atlantic 10 Conference play. She has been part of the program that has won two regular season A-10 titles and made two NCAA Tournament appearances in 2018 and 2019.
"I want to thank Vice President and Director of Athletics, John Hardt and Deputy Director of Athletics, LaRee Sugg for the opportunity to be the next leader of the Richmond women's lacrosse program," Harrington said. "It is evident over my last five seasons on staff with Allison Kwolek that this is a phenomenal group of young women and I am confident in the leadership we have on and off the field. It is a privilege to be able to continue building the legacy of Richmond lacrosse, competing for championships and developing genuine relationships. The University of Richmond is a special place and I am so proud to be a part of it."
