Spiders Cross Country Hosts Atlantic 10 Championships Saturday
10/27/2022 | Cross Country
Richmond, Va.— The University of Richmond men's and women's cross country teams host the 2022 Atlantic 10 Cross Country Championships at Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville Saturday. The women's 5K is set for 10 a.m., while the men's five mile race goes off by 10:50 a.m.
A fast course, nine of the top 20 men's championship marks were set at Pole Green Park, with that number jumping to 16 for the women. Home course advantage has proven to be beneficial with the Spiders winning four team championships at Pole Green (3 women's, 1 men's).
The Spiders look to better their performance from a year ago when the women took fourth and the men took fifth. Peter Borger looks to become the first Spider runner, male or female, to be named individual champion in back-to-back years. Borger crossed last year's finish line first at 24:35.3, while Stuart Terrill followed with a 24:47.6 for third.
On the women's side, Elizabeth Stockman led the Spiders with an 18:01.2 for eighth place.
Last time out, the Richmond women led all A-10 teams en route to taking second at the ECAC Championships in the Bronx. Richmond was the top A-10 team in the event, finishing ahead of the other four (George Mason 7th, UMass 14th, St. Joseph's 18th, Fordham 22nd). For the men, Terrill finished ninth overall with a 24:12.7 as the Spiders took 15th in the 31-team field.
Can't make it to Pole Green Park this weekend for the 2022 Atlantic 10 Conference Cross Country Championships? The races will be streamed LIVE on ESPN+ via Spider TV.
