Three Spiders Collect A-10 Field Hockey All-Conference Honors

Full Atlantic 10 Postseason Awards Release
RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond seniors Lindsey Frank and Tess Keppel and freshman Lainey Nichols have earned 2022 Atlantic 10 Field Hockey All-Conference honors, the league announced Wednesday.

Frank (Saratoga Springs, NY) was named to the A-10 All-Conference First Team after leading the Spiders offense with a career-high eight goals and five assists for a career-high 21 points. Frank, who made 18 starts at midfield, had a season-high four points against Towson (9/4), with two assists and a goal, which kicked off a three-game scoring streak, tallying goals against Towson (9/4), Old Dominion (9/11) and Wake Forest (9/16). Frank also had goals in back-to-back games against Bucknell (10/16) and UMass (10/21). This is Frank's fourth A-10 All-Conference honor, bringing home 2022 Preseason honors, First Team accolades in 2021 and All-Rookie honors in 2019.

Keppel (Baltimore, MD) collected Second Team and All-Academic honors. Serving as captain this season, she started all 18 games on the defensive line for Spiders. Keppel led the Atlantic 10 with five defensive saves, which also ranks fifth nationally. She tallied a career-high two goals, along with four assists, for a career-high eight points. Keppel scored Richmond's first goal of the season at JMU (8/26) and tallied a season-high three points with a penalty stroke and one assist in the Spiders victory over Towson (9/4). The Biology and Health Studies double major also collected assists against Old Dominion (9/11) and Davidson (9/18). Keppel posted two of her five defensive saves at Wake Forest (9/16), while picking up defensive saves against William & Mary (9/2), La Salle (10/7) and Bucknell (10/16). She was also twice named A-10 Defensive Player of the Week this season.

Nichols (Powhatan, VA) was named to the A-10 All-Rookie squad after tallying five goals on the season. She made three starts for the Spiders, while playing in 15 of 18 UR contests. Nichols scored her first collegiate goal in the Spiders win over Longwood (8/28). She also scored against Saint Louis (9/23) and Lafayette (10/2) and posted a career-high two goals, including the game-winner, at Bucknell (10/16).

 The Spiders finished the season with a 6-12 record overall and 2-5 in league action.
