Women’s Basketball Collects Fourth-Straight Win at Puerto Rico Clasico

SAN JUAN, P.R. – Addie Budnik paced all scorers with a career-high 28 points to lead the University of Richmond women's basketball team to a 55-43 victory over Tarleton State Wednesday in the final game of the Puerto Rico Clasico tournament.
Richmond, wrapping up non-conference action with a 10-3 record, heads back to Robins Center to open the Atlantic 10 Conference play hosting George Washington Dec. 31 at 12 p.m. on ESPN+.
The Spiders quickly put the game out of reach against the Texans, taking a 25-2 lead after the first ten minutes of action. The UR defense didn't allow Tarleton to score until the 1:18 mark, while Budnik poured in 15 points, going 6-for-6 from the field, including two three and a free throw.
Budnik finished with 28 points on 12-of-13 shooting from the field, seven rebounds, four blocks, two steals and two assists.
Tarleton got the offense going in the second quarter, tallying 16 points while holding UR to seven. but Richmond still held a double-figure lead going into the break, 32-18.
The second half was a defensive battle between the squads. Richmond pushed their lead out to 21 late in the third quarter on Emilija Krista Grava's three-pointer, 43-22. Tarleton came back to get within eight-points with a 1:09 left in the game, 51-43. A pair of free throws from Katie Hill and a wide-open layup by Grava sealed the Spiders fourth-straight victory.
Grace Townsend finished with four points, six assists and eight rebounds, while Hill chipped in seven points, eight boards and a block. Grava had nine points, two rebounds and a steal
